Fellowship
The purpose of the fellowship ministries at First United Methodist Church is to provide creative and meaningful leisure-time activities for its members and the surrounding community in a Christian atmosphere and setting. The fellowship ministries gives individuals another opportunity to realize the value of the church and to develop caring relationships with other members of our congregation. Youth Events
The United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF)
includes every imaginable type of fellowship: retreats, Chrysalis, bible
studies, swimming, skating, golf, and a variety of fun and games. Adult Events
A number of adult Sunday School classes offer social
events throughout the year, especially during the Christmas season. Keenagers
The Keenagers have a scheduled
event each month. We have visited such places as the Opryland Hotel, the
Upper Room, and Branson, Missouri. The Keenagers
also participate in an annual trip in the Spring to Reelfoot
Lake for fellowship, a meal and to view the Eagles. Our group of senior adults enjoys an
especially warm and caring fellowship as a result of this ministry. Senior Adults
The Senior Adults enjoy four to five fellowship events a
year. Events which are generally at no
charge to participants include ice cream suppers, a brown bag lunch &
bingo, luncheons and an annual Christmas gathering. As part of this ministry, the Senior Adults
routinely send cards of encouragement to shut-ins. Camps
A variety of camps are available throughout the year. Lakeshore United Methodist Assembly offers summer camps for kindergarten through twelfth grade, as well as other specialty camps. Retreats for all ages are available in the Fall and Spring (Older Elementary Retreat, Jr/Sr High Retreat, Walk to Emmaus, Memphis Conference Singles Retreat, etc.), as well as special one-day events such as the Senior Adult Terrific Tuesday. All are welcome to have the Lakeshore experience. www.lakeshoreuma.com |
